成果简介	NOVELTY - The box shaped apparatus (100) has an operating lid (102) fitted on top of the apparatus, and multiple doors (106-1, 106-2,.. 106-N) are attached to each of the four side walls (104-1, 104-2) of the box shaped apparatus in hanging position and supported by multiple hinges to allow one-way entry of the pest from an outside environment into the apparatus, where each of multiple doors have multitude of holes (108-1, 108-2,.. 108-N) for luring the pest to scent of a luring agent placed inside the apparatus. Multiple doors rest on a metallic panel to facilitate one-way entry of the pest from an outside environment into the apparatus. The operating lid is provided with a handle (110). The apparatus is formed of galvanized sheets and the luring agent is a beaten log. The apparatus facilitates preservation of moisture of the luring agent for a time period ranging from four days to six days. USE - Box-shaped apparatus for attracting and trapping longhorn beetles of a pest sal heartwood borer in sal forests during rainy season. ADVANTAGE - The box-shaped apparatus effectively removes the sal heartwood borer from the sal forest, thus maintaining the forest cleanliness by removing affected trees during the rainy season, and hence collecting, trapping and killing the build-up of insect populations in an efficient manner. The apparatus reduces the damage to the Sal tree, and reduces the risk of injury to the affected trees due to internal tunnels in the tree trunk, and maintains the forest hygiene, so that affected trees do not act as a breeding place for the pests for the next life cycle, thus eliminating the need to remove affected trees from the forests to maintain forest hygiene to maintain the cleanliness of the forests in an eco-friendly manner.
