成果简介	NOVELTY - The apparatus (100) has an upper compartment (102) configured to allow passage of the pest and restrict entry of light inside the apparatus, and a funnel shaped arrangement is fitted with the upper compartment to facilitate direct entry of the pest into the upper compartment, having a first panel (108-a) and a second panel (108-b) attached to the upper compartment, where a lower end (104) of the first panel, and the lower compartment (104) of the second panel are overlapping with each other. The lower compartment is provided for forming a reservoir and fixed with the upper compartment, where the lower compartment is configured to house a luring agent (401), where the apparatus through the first panel and the second panel mechanically traps the pest by restricting an exit of the pest into the environment. The luring agent is a beaten log or a chemical used to trap the pest. USE - Apparatus for attracting and trapping longhorn beetles of a pest sal heartwood borer in sal forests in multiple areas of the country. ADVANTAGE - The apparatus enables to maintain forests cleanliness by removing affected trees, which are on their wings during the rainy season, needs to be collected, trapped and killed to check the build-up of insect populations to maintain forest hygiene, so that affected trees do not act as a breeding place for the pests for next life cycle. The apparatus permits trapping of the pest for more than one week without compromising with the capacity to attract insects. The constructional feature of the apparatus allows retention of moisture in the logs over a considerable period of time and thus reduces the requirement of logs even during drier and non-rainy days, this contributes significantly towards protection of forest resources. The apparatus is mechanically robust to withstand environmental and hazardous impact as multiple panels of the upper compartment are made up of galvanized sheet. The apparatus is cost-effective. The apparatus is simple to fabricate and easy to operate. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is included for a method implemented for attracting and trapping longhorn beetles adults of a pest sal heartwood borer by an apparatus.
