成果简介NOVELTY - The method for removing oil spills from contaminated water, involves: using green fiber materials, including lotus and water hyacinth; screening the green fiber material for particle sizes BSS (British Standard Sieve)-44, BSS-60, BSS-100, BSS-120, BSS-170, and BSS-200 at the beginning of the process; making a solution of water and oil in a volumetric proportion of 1:1; and passing the solution passed through all the green fiber materials of different particle sizes for 24 hours. USE - Method for removing oil spills from contaminated water. ADVANTAGE - The method removes oil spills from contaminated water with ecofriendly materials. The material is cheap and widely available in tropical areas, utilizing it as an oil sorbent can lower the cost of controlling water hyacinth invasion through mechanical collection, disposal, and solid waste issues. The water hyacinth is a cheap yet effective oil sorbent for oil spill removal. Water hyacinth gives the best results as compared to lotus. Its sorption efficiency is 90% for the particle size of BSS-120. It is a low-cost and eco-friendly material for the environment.
