成果简介	NOVELTY - A recombinant protein being a mutant form of Tribolium castaneumprocathepsin L having at least 92% homology with an amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO: 1 (sequence not given in the specification), is new. The mutant procathepsin L is capable of generating active T.castaneumcathepsin L possessing postglutamine-cleavage activity through auto-processing. USE - The recombinant protein is useful for producing a recombinant mutant T.castaneumcathepsin L, hydrolyzing immunogenic gliadin peptides and treating diseases associated with celiac disease and enteropathology caused by gluten intolerance. The recombinant protein is useful as a therapeutic agent for celiac disease and gluten intolerance and producing gluten-free products (all claimed). ADVANTAGE - The recombinant protein produces acid resistant cathepsin L. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is included for a method for producing a recombinant mutant T.castaneumcathepsin L, which involves performing an auto-processing of the above-mentioned mutant procathepsin L.
