ADVANTAGE - The composition exhibits ease of manufacture, ease of administration, and acheive specific bioavailability and stability. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is included for a process for preparing a stable ophthalmic composition, which involves: (a) adding and mixing buffers in water to get a clear solution; (b) adding phenylephrine or its salt, to the above solution under stirring to obtain a clear solution; (c) optionally adding benzalkonium chloride to above solution; (d) adding pH adjusting agents selected from sodium hydroxide, hydrochloric acid, phosphoric acid, or combinations, to adjust the initial pH of the composition in the range of 5.5-6.0; (e) making up the volume of the solution to 100% with water; and (f) filtering the solution and filling aseptically in vial.
