| 成果简介 | NOVELTY - Mycofiber composite comprises 30-40 wt.% oyster mushroom mycelium, 22-27 wt.% polyLactic acid (PLA), 12-17 wt.% fungus-based chitosan, 12-17 wt.% hemp fiber, and 8-12 wt.% polyvinyl alcohol (PVA). USE - Mycofiber composite used as good insulator for thermal insulation applications. ADVANTAGE - The mycofiber composite and method of its synthesis is capable of providing an alternative traditional synthetic materials, such as rubber and plastic, that is more sustainable, environment- friendly, and biodegradable, which reduce the amount of waste that is generated due to economic activity and population growth, and help to mitigate the impact of plastic pollution on the environment. The mycofiber composite is also capable of breaking down into natural, non-toxic components, reduces waste, conserve resources, and reduce the impact of material production. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is included for method for synthesis of mycofiber composite, which involves: (1) gently heating the hemp fiber to a temperature in the range of 40-60℃ in order to obtain heated hemp fiber; (2) dissolving the fungus-based chitosan in an acidic medium at a temperature in the range of 20-25℃ in order to obtain a chitosan solution; (3) blending the hemp fiber in the chitosan solution followed by heating at a temperature in the range of 40-60℃ in order to obtain a hemp-chitosan composite; (4) placing the hemp-chitosan composite in a chamber, followed by adding the oyster mushroom mycelium on top of the composite to obtain mushroom mycelium-adhered hemp-chitosan composite; (5) applying a solution of the PVA and PLA to composite obtained in step (4) while maintaining a temperature in the range of 26-30℃, humidity of around 17.5-21.5g/m3, and pressure of 435-470mmHg inside the container to obtain a composite layer; (6) applying the solution of the PVA and PLA layer by layer, stacking the composite layer on top of each other, followed by leaving the composite within the chamber in order to obtain hemp-composite substrate; and (7) inoculating the hemp-composite substrate with the mycelium for allowing the mycelium to grow and colonize the substrate in order to obtain the mycofiber, followed by separating the mycofiber from the composite using an extraction process in order to obtain the mycofiber composite. |
