| 成果简介 | NOVELTY - Analyzing antibacterial activity of plant Euphorbia hirta, comprises: (a) collecting one or more plant parts of the plant, where the one or more parts of the plant are mixed with one or more solvents to obtain a number of extracts which include n-hexane extract, chloroform extract, ethyl acetate extract and ethanol extract; (b) screening the number of extracts for one or more phytochemicals to determine total phenolic and flavonoidal content, where the ethanolic extract is having more phenolic content than the flavonoid content; (c) standardizing the number of extracts by quantification of standard bioactive compounds, where the number of extracts is standardized by using one or more solutions which include ellagic acid, gallic acid, quercetin and rutin, and the factor of retention (Rf) values obtained are 0.47, 0.70, 0.96 and 0.53; and (d) evaluating the number of extracts for antibacterial activity on Staphylococcus aureus. USE - Method for analyzing antibacterial activity of plant Euphorbia hirta. ADVANTAGE - The method needs the least chemicals for analyzing antibacterial activity of the extract, and is cost effective and less time consuming. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - Analyzing antibacterial activity of plant Euphorbia hirta, comprises: (a) collecting one or more plant parts of the plant, where the one or more parts of the plant are mixed with one or more solvents to obtain a number of extracts which include n-hexane extract, chloroform extract, ethyl acetate extract and ethanol extract; (b) screening the number of extracts for one or more phytochemicals to determine total phenolic and flavonoidal content, where the ethanolic extract is having more phenolic content than the flavonoid content; (c) standardizing the number of extracts by quantification of standard bioactive compounds, where the number of extracts is standardized by using one or more solutions which include ellagic acid, gallic acid, quercetin and rutin, and the factor of retention (Rf) values obtained are 0.47, 0.70, 0.96 and 0.53; and (d) evaluating the number of extracts for antibacterial activity on Staphylococcus aureus, where the number of extracts having the ethanolic extract with a zone of inhibition 17.0 mm and having minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) of 0.25 mg/ml. |
