| 成果简介 | NOVELTY - Zinc oxide nanoparticle comprises weed extract obtained from Lantana camara, chitosan, and metallic nanoparticle solution, where the zinc oxide nanoparticles have a size of 20-35 nm, chitosan is a natural polymer, and the metallic nanoparticle comprises silver, gold, copper, and zinc. USE - Zinc oxide nanoparticle exhibiting antibacterial and antifungal activity against various pathogenic bacteria and fungi such as Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, Candida albicans, and Rosellinia necatrix. Test details are described but no results given. ADVANTAGE - The zinc oxide nanoparticle has improved stability, improved biocompatibility, and can be prepared without the need for toxic chemicals and solvents, in scalable, safe, environmentally friendly and cost-effective manner. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is included for a method for preparing chitosan-coated zinc oxide nanoparticles, which comprises: (a) preparing chitosan solution by dissolving 700 mg chitosan in 1% glacial acetic acid ; (b) preparing metal precursor solution by dissolving 0.05 M zinc nitrate in 100 mL distilled water, and stirring the mixture at 80℃ for 30 minutes; (c) adding 10 mL chitosan solution dropwise to a precursor solution of step (b); (d) heating 15 mL of leaf extract obtained from leaves of Lantana camara in a water bath at 45℃ for 30 minutes; (e) adding leaves extract of step (d) to the solution of step (a) and magnetically stirring for 1 hour; (f) adding 1M solution of sodium hydroxide to the solution of step (e), stirring for 2 hours, resulting in a color change of the mixture; (g) leaving the suspension from step (f) undisturbed overnight in a dark environment to obtain precipitate; (h) centrifuging the suspension at 4000 revolutions/minute for 40 minutes to obtain pellet; (i) washing the pellet with distilled water to remove impurities and subsequently drying in oven for 12 hours at 60℃; and (j) transferring the dried pellet into a clean bottle for further storage. |
