Method includes extraction, methanolysis and chromatographic determination of weight fraction of individual fatty acids, and is characterized by that the blood plasma or serum sample is preliminarily dehydrated in a vacuum on a water bath of a rotary evaporator at temperature of 75–79 °C for 20 minutes, then it is dried in a drying oven for 20 minutes, the dried fat film is dissolved in 2 ml of hexane and centrifuged at 5000 rpm for 20 minutes, 15-minute settling is followed by gas chromatographic analysis of 1 ml of the sample supernatant on 100-meter capillary quartz column with a high-polarity stationary phase CR-Sil 88 FAME.
