USE - Process for preparing an activated carbon from Prosopis juliflorathornbush plant. ADVANTAGE - The process pollutants comprise an organic pollutant type such as 4-nitrophenol, an intermediate chemical used in the synthesis of various industrial products such as dyes, pharmaceuticals, and fungicides. The pollutant has an industrial effluent type such as dye bath effluent typical of textile industries. Column studies were carried out to identify duration of operation of the packed bed in producing pure water from dye bath feed solution with a high Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD). DETAILED DESCRIPTION - An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is included for a process for removing pollutant(s) from an aqueous stream comprising contacting the aqueous stream comprising pollutant(s) with an activated carbon.
