| 成果简介 | NOVELTY - Indwelling medical device has a device main body provided with multiple antimicrobial agents. Surfaces of the device main body are attached with chemical functional groups for functioning. The antimicrobial agents are combined with functionalized surfaces of the device main body through a chemical linker, where the chemical functional groups are provided with hydroxyl group, silane group, or a combination. The chemical linker links the functionalized surface of the medical device and the antimicrobial agents through covalent bonding. USE - The device i.e. catheter, for preventing attachment, growth and biofilm formation by infectious microorganisms. ADVANTAGE - The method: provides durable, biocompatible, antimicrobial agent-conjugated indwelling medical device, that prevents the growth of pathogenic microorganisms and inhibits the biofilm development on its surface for an extended time; and addresses the issue of drug resistance as the antimicrobial agents conjugated to the surfaces of medical devices cannot be released and their concentration on the surfaces does not decrease but remains constant over time. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - INDEPENDENT CLAIMS are included for: (1) producing an indwelling medical device conjugated with antimicrobial agents comprising a functionalization of the surface of the medical device by attaching chemical functional groups to surfaces of the medical device to form a surface-functionalized medical device; (2) conjugation of antimicrobial agents to the surface of an indwelling medical device comprising functionalization of the surface of the medical device by attaching chemical functional groups to form a surface-functionalized medical device; and (3) preventing the development of biofilm on the surfaces of indwelling medical devices by conjugating antimicrobial agents to the surfaces of medical devices. |
