DETAILED DESCRIPTION - Purifying rivaroxaban amino intermediate of formula (I) comprises preparing a solution of crude rivaroxaban amino intermediate in suitable organic solvent and water, cooling to less than ambient temperature, and isolating pure rivaroxaban amino intermediate. An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is included for a method for preparing pure rivaroxaban of formula (II), which involves providing a solution of crude rivaroxaban amino intermediate in a suitable organic solvent and water, cooling to less than ambient temperature, isolating pure rivaroxaban amino intermediate, reacting with 5-chlorothiophene-2-carbonyl halide in the presence of a base and a suitable organic solvent, and isolating pure rivaroxaban.
