成果简介NOVELTY - Separating and estimating micro-plastic particles from a soil sample involves (a) adding 20 g soil/sludge/farm-yard Manure sample to be separated in a separating vial and pre-treating the soil sample with Fenton's reagent (10 ml), in a ratio of 2:1 (soil/sludge/FYM: Fenton's reagent), (b) adding 100 ml of saturated salt solution to the soil sample in the vial, capping and vortexing the mixture of soil sample and salt solution, (c) filtering the mixture through a Whatman filter paper, drying the filter paper and separating the low-density group micro-plastics from the filter paper, (d) adding 50 ml distilled water and 10 ml oil to the remaining soil sample at the bottom of the vial containing medium and high-density group of micro-plastics, capping and vortexing the mixture, (e) placing the flat bottom glass rod vertically inside the vial and incubating the whole vial set up consisting of the settled sample in -20 °C for 4 hours for freezing. USE - Method for separating and estimating micro-plastic particles from a soil sample used in different soil matrices such as Alfisol, Vertisol, Mollisol and Inceptisol. ADVANTAGE - The method has very simple and green technology which employs very simple sequential steps, low cost, easy, reproducible, applicable for extraction of all three density groups (low, medium and high) of plastics. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - Separating and estimating micro-plastic particles from a soil sample involves (a) adding 20 g soil/ Sludge/ farm-yard Manure sample to be separated in a separating vial and pre-treating the soil sample with Fenton's reagent (10 ml), in a ratio of 2:1 (soil/sludge/FYM: Fenton's reagent), (b) adding 100 ml of saturated salt solution to the soil sample in the vial, capping and vortexing the mixture of soil sample and salt solution, (c) filtering the mixture through a Whatman filter paper, drying the filter paper and separating the low-density group micro-plastics from the filter paper, (d) adding 50 ml distilled water and 10 ml oil to the remaining soil sample at the bottom of the vial containing medium and high-density group of micro-plastics, capping and vortexing the mixture, (e) placing the flat bottom glass rod vertically inside the vial and incubating the whole vial set up consisting of the settled sample in -20 °C for 4 hours for freezing, where the frozen sample comprises layers, the bottom layer of frozen soil/ sludge/farm-yard Manure matrices, middle layer of the frozen ice and the top frozen oil layer containing all medium to high density group of micro-plastics in it.
