No biological data given. ADVANTAGE - The heat-killed single serotype Shigella immunogen is safe, effective and cost-effective, and it demonstrates only homologous protection in mice model without any heterologous protection or cross protection. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is included for method for formulating heat killed Shigella immunogen, which involves: (1) growing strains in different agar and broth medium at 37℃ with constant shaking. (2) maximizing the antigen presence in formulated immunogen cultures from all the agar medium and broth medium was collected on next day and suspended in phosphate buffer saline (PBS) separately. (3) collecting bacteria from agar media, them scrapping plates and washing twice with PBS and re-suspending bacteria in PBS; (4) centrifuging broth mediums and discarding the culture supernatant; and (5) washing the bacterial pellets twice with PBS and resuspending in PBS.
