DETAILED DESCRIPTION - Preparing 4'-bromomethyl-2-cyanobiphenyl (Br-OTBN) of formula (I) comprises brominating 4'-methyl-2-cyanobiphenyl (OTBN) using a bromine source by photochemical process using ultraviolet light source in a photochemical reactor, and improving by interposing between light source and compound to be brominated, with an aqueous solution of copper sulfate as wavelength filter.
