成果简介	NOVELTY - The equipment for cleaning and sanitizing fresh produce, includes (a) pumping device (1) to channel potable water free of solid contaminants; (b) a filtering device (2) attached to the showers for showering/spraying of potable water and chemical agents; c) a dry air fan (3); d) a heater (4) fitted with a thermostat, to maintain a particular temperature in the range of 50-80 °C; (e) a UV-C source (5) for providing sanitizing illumination on the surface of the produce; (f) timers and alarms (6) to control the process; g) a drum (7) into which the produce is kept for sanitization; (h) a conveyer belt (8), and actuator can be fitted to automate the process; and i) a collection tank (9) with provisions to drain to collect sanitizing chemical agents. USE - Equipment for cleaning and sanitizing fresh produce. ADVANTAGE - The method of treating the surfaces of fresh foods and vegetables which is gentle on fresh produce. Further, the equipment of the present invention cleans the produce of non-living parts of living organisms (such as insect body parts, eggs, etc.) reduces the microbial count quickly, and potentially deactivates viruses. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is included for a multistep process for cleaning and sanitizing fresh fruits and vegetables, involves (a) keeping the produce in the drum of the equipment, and closing door; (b) switching on the equipment to clean produce with potable water; (c) applying potable water at rates varying from 2-10 L/min; (d) washing produce with a chemical (0.05-0.5%) within the same 10 chamber for 30 s to 10 min; (e) rotating drum mechanically or automatized up to 20 rotations per minute; and (f) sanitizing the produce with heat or UV-C with exposure of > 1 J/cm2 for durations of 1-30 min.
