USE - Process for preparing N-alkyl hydroxypyrazole derivative used as intermediates for agricultural chemicals, particularly herbicides; and also used as precursors for the preparation of pharmaceuticals. ADVANTAGE - The process is environment friendly with minimum effluent generation, and cost-effective. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - Preparing N-alkyl hydroxypyrazole derivative of formula (I), involves: hydrolyzing and decarboxylating 5-hydroxypyrazole-4-carboxylic acid ethyl ester derivative of formula (II) using perfluoropolymers of supra-acid to obtain N-alkyl hydroxypyrazole derivative (I). R=1-3C alkyl group.
