成果简介NOVELTY - Fractal photo conductive antenna (PCA) apparatus (100) for terahertz generation and terahertz detection for spectroscopy and imaging systems comprises a laser unit (115), a laser beam from the laser unit being focused on a first photo conductive antenna. The first photo conductive antenna has substrate. The substrate has a semi insulating substrate being a top most layer of the substrate, an active region, being fractal shaped, positioned between fractal-shaped teeth electrodes an anode, and a cathode for increasing the laser illuminated area of the active region, and layers being positioned underneath the topmost layer of the substrate, where each layer being constructed from two optically distinct materials of different refractive indices stacked one of high index layer on top of low index material layer, for increasing the material's absorption coefficient of the substrate. USE - Fractal photo conductive antenna (PCA) apparatus for terahertz (THz) generation and detection for spectroscopy and imaging systems. ADVANTAGE - The fractal photo conductive antenna apparatus has greater efficiency for generating photocurrent and accordingly enhances THz radiation. The fractal photo conductive antenna apparatus generates and radiates Terahertz wave that achieves an increase of 39.22 % power and 11 THz of THz bandwidth when compared to the inter comb PCA. The fractal photo conductive antenna apparatus uses only direct current (DC) bias voltage, that avoids the inductance effect. The fractal photo conductive antenna provides much greater performance than the conventional dipole or bow-tie PCA. The apparatus does not require a lab-controlled environment. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - Fractal photo conductive antenna (PCA) apparatus (100) for terahertz generation and terahertz detection for spectroscopy and imaging systems comprises a laser unit (115), a laser beam from the laser unit being focused on a first photo conductive antenna. The first photo conductive antenna has substrate. The substrate has a semi insulating substrate being a top most layer of the substrate, an active region, being fractal shaped, positioned between fractal-shaped teeth electrodes an anode, and a cathode for increasing the laser illuminated area of the active region, and layers being positioned underneath the topmost layer of the substrate, where each layer being constructed from two optically distinct materials of different refractive indices stacked one of high index layer on top of low index material layer, for increasing the material's absorption coefficient of the substrate, being generator and transmitter of terahertz waves out of the substrate by drift diffusion process under the effect of bias voltage, being coupled to a first sampler (110) positioned on the rear, non-illuminated side of the first PCA (105). The first focus device (120) for focusing the terahertz wave from the first PCA on a sample. The second focus device (125) for focusing the beam from the first focus device on a second photo conductive antenna (PCA). The second photo conductive antenna (PCA) (137), being detector, receiving the delayed gating pulse of laser beam from a third focus device (140) and the terahertz beam from the second sampler (130) being transferred to the output unit (145) for generating photocurrent and radiating the terahertz power.
