USE - Mucoadhesive hybrid gel formulation. ADVANTAGE - The mucoadhesive hybrid gel formulation shows good retention property, minimizes the possibility of leakage and sustain drug delivery at the site of application. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is included for method of preparing a mucoadhesive hybrid gel formulation using cold method, which involves: (1) mixing mucoadhesive polymer amidated pectin (AP), thermosensitive polymer 407 and Poloxamer 188 respectively; (2) blending of mucoadhesive polymer amidated pectin, thermosensitive polymer 407 and thermosensitive polymer 188 to form a uniform mixture; (3) dding distilled water to the obtained mixture to form a paste; and (4) adding the paste obtained to cold distilled water by gentle mixing at stirring speed of 150 to 3000 RPM to form a mucoadhesive hybrid gel formulation that is further enhanced with the addition of hydrophobic or hydrophilic actives, for promoting its delivery to the intended site of action.
