| 成果简介 | NOVELTY - The method involves using local consumer price indexes to update a real poverty line for comparison with the nominal expenditures or incomes collected in the surveys. Consumer price indexes are of variable quality around the world and poverty counts are very sensitive to any errors. Consumer price indexes are constructed from two components, i.e. a set of prices collected on a regular schedule from retail shops and markets around the country, and a set of weights that typically come from a household expenditure survey. Some countries collect good data in urban centers, but find it much more difficult to collect adequate price data in the countryside. USE - Method for updating real poverty line for comparison with nominal expenditures or incomes collected in surveys. Can also be used in urban centers, rural areas, etc. ADVANTAGE - The method enables reducing the world and national poverty counts in an effective manner. The method allows a user to determine whether the current world poverty counts are sound enough to support the use of antipoverty policies, and identifies issues that need to be further research in an efficient manner. |
