| 成果简介 | NOVELTY - Evaluating the phytochemical and antimicrobial activity of methanolic stem extract of Tridax procumbens, involves: (a) selecting bacteria species (such as Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, Klebsiella pneumoniae, and Pseudomonas aerogenosa); and (b) carrying out methanolic extract of Tridax procumbens separated to different fractions of column chromatography using hexane, ethyl acetate, and methanol as eluents and subjecting to antimicrobial activity. USE - Method for evaluating the phytochemical and antimicrobial activity of methanolic stem extract of Tridax procumbens. ADVANTAGE - The method is carried out in a cost-effective manner by solvent extraction method. The Tridax procumbens stem extract inhibit multi-drug resistance Klebsiella pneumonia and show without or minimal side effects compared to synthetic drugs. The Klebsiella pneumoniae shows the highest zone of inhibition and Staphylococcus aureus shows the lowest zone of inhibition and Pseudomonas aerogenosa does not show zone of inhibition, hence, the study suggests the stem extracts of Tridax procumbens has effective against respiratory illness caused by Klebsiella pneumoniae. |
