The metformin sprinkle pellet comprises metformin hydrochloride, filler, two release retardant polymers and binder, the sitagliptin jelly powder comprises sitagliptin, two gelling polymers and other excipients. USE - Sachet formulation for the treatment of diabetes. No biological data given. ADVANTAGE - The formulation improves the patient compliance particularly in geriatric patients to overcome the difficulty of swallowing, which may benefit patients suffering from diabetes conditions; is safe and has enhanced effectiveness; exhibits sustained release. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is included for a method for preparing Sachet formulation comprising: (a) Taking ingredients Metformin HCL, AvicelPH 101 (RTM: Microcrystalline cellulose), EudragitRSPO (RTM: Synthetic polymer), EudragitL100 (RTM: Functional polymer) and passing on 44 no sieve and making wet mass by adding suitable concentration of HPMC k100; (b) Passing the wet mass on sieve no 16 and spheronized it by using extruder Spheronizer at 1800 RPM for 8-10 minutes to obtain metformin sprinkle pellet; (c) putting pellet in oven for 10-15 minutes to obtain dry metformin sprinkle pellet; (d) mixing dry gelling polymers (Guar gum, HPMC E5) with sitagliptin; (e) adding Stevia (sweetening agent), sunset yellow(colorant), orange flavor, Methyl paraben(preservative) to mixture to obtain final sitagliptin jelly powder; (f) adding water to sitagliptin jelly powder before use; (g) Mixing Metformin sprinkle pellet and sitagliptin dry jelly powder and filing in sachet packet; and (h) adding water to sachet formulation before administration to patients.
