成果简介NOVELTY - Biodegradable mulching system with super absorbent polymer, comprises sugarcane and coconut by-product as top layer, and super absorbent polymer makes up the bottom layer. USE - The system is useful for water-efficient agriculture (claimed). ADVANTAGE - The system: is biodegradable; has super absorbent polymer; provides water-retention mulch paper underwent 90% biodegradation within a period of 28 days and enhanced soil nutrients; utilizes super absorbent polymer that is a thin layer unique combination of well-balanced biodegradable and bio-based raw materials connected to the top layer; utilizes the super absorbent in the lower layer of the water retention paper that absorbs the quantity of water not required by the crop to avoid water evaporation and infiltration; raises the soil's moisture content by gravitational force through the super absorbent polymer when the crop needs water; enhances soil moisture and improve soil temperature; degreases soil loss and erosion; increases nutrient availability; protects plants from several agents i.e. pest and pathogen infections; improves water management and reduces the growth of weeds; fasters seed germination; and reduces root damages.
