成果简介NOVELTY - Invention relates to production of ultrahigh-temperature ceramic materials, particularly to a method of producing ceramics based on a titanium subgroup transition metal carbide. It can be used in metalworking, electrical engineering, aerospace, nuclear industry and materials science. Workpiece from a metal of a titanium subgroup, selected from Ti, Zr and Hf, is subjected to carbidization in a single step by gradually heating said workpiece from 800 to 2,500 °C in an inert medium, containing gaseous hydrocarbon mixture. Hydrocarbon mixture is fed into the reaction zone by means of precision peristaltic pumps in portions simultaneously with heating. Temperature control is carried out by means of a temperature controller connected to a spectral ratio pyrometer and a thyristor power regulator. Process is carried out until complete carbidization of the workpiece metal, while controlling the termination of changes in its electrical resistance. USE - Ceramics.
