成果简介	NOVELTY - Alternate immersion testing apparatus (100) comprises frame (101) adapted to accommodate a motor (102) and electronic circuit (104), where the frame is provided with rack and pinion arrangement to adjust height; an extended shaft (103) operatively connected to the motor having multiple coupling points to accommodate at least one coupon; and a microcontroller operatively connected to the motor, wherein the microcontroller is operatively connected to a driver to facilitate motor controlling by the microcontroller for controlling time of immersion, time of emersion and time for rotation of motor and shaft. USE - Alternate immersion testing apparatus for subjecting different materials to accelerated corrosion by alternate immersion simultaneously in 3.5 wt.% sodium chloride solution. ADVANTAGE - The alternate immersion testing apparatus is economical and simple in construction and working, and requires less amount of space for installation to ensure low transportation cost. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is included for a method for alternate immersion testing to subject different materials to accelerated corrosion by alternate immersion simultaneously in 3.5 wt.% sodium chloride solution, which comprises winding/attaching a string connected to a coupon; stopping the rotation of motor connected to the extended shaft after the complete immersion of coupon in solution for a predetermined time; rotating the motor in second direction to initiate emersion operation of the coupon out of the solution present in container below the extended shaft; stopping the rotation of motor after complete emersion; and repeating sequence of the immersion operation and emersion operation for a predetermined test time.
