成果简介	NOVELTY - An activated carbon is produced from walnut shell comprising 17.65% fixed carbon, 70.71% volatiles, and 0.73% ash content, and a solution of 50% potassium hydroxide, where the ratio of walnut shell to potassium hydroxide is 1:1-1:3 based on the thickness of the walnut shell. USE - Activated carbon for use in water purification, air filtration, gas masks and medical treatment for absorbing pollutants and impurities. ADVANTAGE - The activated carbon has high carbon content, high adsorption capacity, low ash content, and versatile nature, and can be prepared in cost-effective manner. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is included for a method for producing an activated carbon, which comprises: (i) crushing a walnut shell to obtain crushed walnut shell; (ii) grinding the crushed walnut shells to obtain a fine powder of the walnut shell; (iii) separating the fine powder of the walnut shell based on the size; (iv) soaking the fine powder of the walnut shell in 50% solution of potassium hydroxide to obtain impregnated walnut shell; (v) drying the impregnated walnut shell in vacuum; and (v) carbonizing the impregnated walnut shell under flow of nitrogen to obtain the activated carbon.
