USE - Shellac-coated hydroxy-polyvinyl alcohol film used for manufacturing durable plastic bag. ADVANTAGE - The method provides sustainable, eco-friendly alternative by addressing the limitations of PVA-OH, such as hydrophilicity and slow biodegradation, while ensuring material integrity, and uses shellac-coated hydroxy-polyvinyl alcohol, which achieves higher stiffness due to shellac addition, good balance of strength and flexibility. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is included for a method of preparing a shellac-coated hydroxy-polyvinyl alcohol (PVAOH) film, which involves: (a) preparing a shellac solution by dissolving 15-25% shellac flakes in an organic solvent, (b) applying the shellac solution of step (a) onto a PVA-OH film via a spray application at 25-30℃, and (c) allowing the coated film to dry at 40 to 45℃, forming a shellac coated hydroxy-polyvinyl alcohol (PVA-OH) film. |
