成果简介NOVELTY - A device comprises at least one inlet for introducing the sample, microchannel for receiving the sample to form a fluid stream, and outlets for receiving separated sample particles from the microchannel, where the microchannel comprises a height-to-width aspect ratio (H/W) of 1-5, and radius of curvature (R) of 1-20 mm. The total flow rate of the fluid stream, the radius of curvature (R), and height-to-width aspect ratio (H/W) are configured for size-based separation of sample particles. USE - Device for separating particles such as extracellular vesicles from sample (claimed). ADVANTAGE - The device ensures rapid and label-free isolation of extracellular vesicles of ~15 minutes without mechanical damage to vesicles by preserving their functionality for downstream applications in diagnostics and therapeutics, high purity and repeatability, and the method of separation works with a small sample volume without the requirement of manual intervention or pre-processing. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is included for a method for separating particles from a sample using the device, which comprises: (i) introducing a sample into the microchannel to form a fluid stream via at least one inlet; (ii) passing the fluid stream through the microchannel; (iii) separating the sample particles based on the size; and (iv) collecting separated particles through outlets.
