成果简介NOVELTY - Decontaminating radioactive gel comprises 5-10 wt.% low molecular weight adsorptive agent (101) configured for collecting radioactive and heavy metal contaminants, 5-10 wt.% gelling agent (103) providing the required viscosity and stability to the decontaminating radioactive gel (100), and 7-8 wt.% humectant agent (105) configured to improve consistency, spreadability, and peelability upon drying. The decontaminating radioactive gel is formulated to adsorb and remove radioactive contaminants, achieving decontamination efficiencies of up to 94.6% for Technetium-99m (Tc-99m), 87.4% for fluorine (F18), and 89.9% for iodine (I-131) on various surfaces, including but not limited to glass, stainless steel, polyvinyl chloride (PVC), granite, and biological surfaces. USE - Decontaminating radioactive gel used for application on skin (claimed), and both biological and non-biological surfaces. ADVANTAGE - The decontaminating radioactive gel exhibits a pH in the range of 6.5 to 7.4, ensuring stability and compatibility with biological and nonbiological surfaces while avoiding irritation or corrosion, demonstrates a swelling index of at least 90-100%, attributed to the hydrophilic nature of phosphorylated chitosan, enhancing its capacity to absorb contaminants efficiently, is safe for application on skin, effectively removing at least 78-79% of radioactive contamination without causing irritation or damage, ensuring user safety in emergency scenarios, and effectively decontaminate radioactive spills to minimize health and environmental hazards. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is included for a method for preparing a decontaminating radioactive gel, which involves: (a)initiating preparation process by dissolving 0.2-0.3 g of a low molecular weight adsorptive agent (Chitosan) and 3-4 g of urea in 19-20 ml of dimethylformamide (DMF) in a round-bottom flask to form a homogenous solution;(b)adding 403, 2-3 ml of 86-87% orthophosphoric acid to the homogenous solution under continuous stirring to facilitate a uniform reaction mixture;(c)heating the reaction mixture to 150℃ for 1 hour while maintaining consistent agitation, inducing the phosphorylation of chitosan;(d)washing the resultant precipitate thoroughly with ethanol three times to eliminate unreacted components and impurities;(e)subjecting the washed precipitate to dialysis using a cellulose membrane with a molecular weight cut-off of 12 kilodalton (kDa) to remove residuals and by-products, resulting in a purified phosphorylated chitosan solution;(f)dissolving 5% to 10% of phosphorylated chitosan in a gelling agent (Carbopol 940, crosslinked polyacrylic acid polymer) solution under continuous stirring for 4 to 5 hours to achieve a homogenous gel base; and (g)obtaining decontaminating radioactive gel by adding 7-8% of a humectant agent (propylene glycol) to the gel base under gentle agitation.
