成果简介	NOVELTY - Preparing tertiary amines from carbonyl compounds involves mixing a pre-defined amount of an amine borane and a carbonyl compound in a sealed tube in a nitrogen filled glove box and tightly sealing the sealed tube with polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) to obtain a reaction mixture. The formed reaction mixture is stirred at 1 atmospheric pressure under nitrogen (N2) atmosphere for 30 minutes at 30-40℃ and added 6 mL suitable alcohol after completion of reaction to obtain an alcoholic solution. The suitable alcohol is evaporated from the alcoholic solution in a 100 mL round bottom flask at 50℃ and 200 millibar pressure by adding 10 mL diethyl ether followed by adding precipitating solution to obtain precipitates of an amine salt. The precipitates of the amine salt are filtered and washed with diethyl ether and ethyl acetate followed by drying under high vacuum to obtain a tertiary amine. USE - Method for preparation of tertiary amines from carbonyl compounds. ADVANTAGE - The method prepares the tertiary amines having 25-99% yield from carbonyl compounds under mild reaction conditions conducted at room temperature in a time-efficient manner by employing amine borane that functions as an amine source, a catalyst, and a reductant. The method provides a simple and cost-effective approach that is metal-free and solvent-free and eliminates the requirement of any additional substrate or activator for the preparation of tertiary amines.
