The preparation of groundnut shell powder for plant growth medium, involves collecting ground nut shells, washing with tap water, soaking them overnight to remove soil particles, sun drying shells for 3 days on a tarpaulin; coarsely powdering ground nut shells using a commercial grinder, sun drying the powder for another day, covering with tarpaulin and leaving it in sunlight on the following day; removing the tarpaulin in the evening resulting in the generation of excess heat inside causing extra moisture to accumulating on the tarpaulin; and covering the powder again overnight with tarpaulin, sun drying it the next day without covering for one day, after seven days of drying the groundnut powder, where its color changes from yellowish-brown to dark brown. USE - Groundnut shell mixture used as substrate for plant growth medium used in agriculture and horticulture for boosting vegetable plant growth and yield, while offering a sustainable solution for environmental pollution management. ADVANTAGE - The ground nut shell peat pH is 5.65, EC 136ms/cm, total nitrogen is 0.87 vol.%, total Phosphorous is 953 mg/kg, potassium is 18.2g/kg, organic carbon is 28.05 wt.%, calcium is 5.81g/kg, nitrate is 4 ppm and water holding capacity 694%. The biochemical parameters of Ground nut shell mix are root length of 28.3±0.8 cm, shoot length of 14.67±0.4 cm, root/shoot ratio of 1.247, and root nodules are 14 ± 1.2 cm. The use of 50% compost showed good result and increased nutrient uptake of nutrition by the plant. The process for preparing the groundnut shell mixture as substrate for plant growth medium, involves mixing 50 wt.% prepared Ground nut shell powder with 25 wt.% vermicompost and keeping in sunlight for one day, adding the following day, 1 wt.% perlite, thoroughly mixing the vermicompost and perlite and leaving open in sunlight for 2 days, covering with tarpaulin to remove excess moisture from the vermicompost on the subsequent day, after a total of 12 days adding drying plant powder 1 wt.% each, adding 3 wt.% azolla powder, 1 wt.% charcoal, 5 wt.% sand, and 5 wt.% ash, after adding the mixture filling the mixture directly into gunny bags and before filling pots soaking the ground nut shell mixture overnight because ground nut shell powder absorb water slowly and it floats on water.
