成果简介NOVELTY - Photo-responsive ionic compound, e.g., betaine derivative of (I), is new. USE - Photo-responsive ionic compound having antimicrobial and cytotoxic action, and used in pharmaceutical composition (all claimed), for inhibiting growth of various bacteria and fungi; and inhibiting cancer cell proliferation in certain cancer cell lines. ADVANTAGE - The photo-responsive ionic compound enables controlled and on-demand release of active pharmaceutical ingredients, enhance treatment outcomes, and reduce side effects. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - Photo-responsive ionic compound, e.g., betaine derivative of formula (I), is new. R=H or OH. INDEPENDENT CLAIMS are included for: 1. a pharmaceutical composition, which comprises: photo-responsive ionic compound (I) and excipients; and 2. a process for synthesis of 1-carboxy-N,N,N-trimethylmethanaminium cinnamate ([Bet][t-CA]) of formula (IA), and 1-carboxy-N,N,N-trimethylmethanaminium-(E)-3-(4-hydroxyphenyl)acrylate ([Bet][p-CA]) of formula (IB).
