成果简介NOVELTY - The method involves carbonizing bamboo biomass through a cost-effective carbonization process. A carbonized bamboo biomass is activated with zinc chloride to form carbon-zinc oxide composite material, where humidity is sensed with response and recovery time that is shorter than previous humidity sensing materials, a carbonization process is performed at a temperature range of 400-800 degree Celsius and the material demonstrates decrease in electrical conductivity and current upon exposure to water vapor due to increased adsorption of water vapor molecules. USE - Method for producing carbon-zinc oxide composite material for a humidity sensor in industrial, environmental and consumer applications i.e. meteorology, heating ventilation air conditioning (HVAC) systems and industrial processes. ADVANTAGE - The humidity sensor has high selectivity towards humidity and negligible response to volatile organic compounds such as ethanol and methanol, thus ensuring accurate humidity measurements. It is cost efficient, and leverages low-cost bamboo biomass and a straightforward chemical activation process. It exhibits excellent humidity sensing capabilities, with a faster response and recovery time compared to conventional sensors. The performance of the sensor can be tuned by adjusting the carbonization temperature and the operating temperature.
