成果简介NOVELTY - Preparing a photocatalyst, involves dissolving barium carbonate (0.5 M) 0.4 gm in 10 ml deionized water, dissolving manganese carbonate (0.5 M) 0.5 gm in 10 ml deionized water, dissolving titanium dioxide (0.3 M) 0.2 gm in 10 ml deionized water, dissolving sodium hydroxide (8 M) 3.2 gm in 10 deionized water, mixing the above constituents in 100 ml deionized water, magnetic stirring for 45 minutes to result in a suspension, and then heating the suspension in a reactor at 180℃ for 12 hours. USE - Method for preparing a photocatalyst, preferably barium titanium manganese oxide (Ba2TiMnO6) responsive to sunlight, UV irradiation, and other light sources (all claimed). ADVANTAGE - The self-cleaning photocatalyst which works on the principle of photo-induced hydrophobicity which induces self-cleaning ability in a construction material. The photocatalyst is in a powdery form which facilitates the easy incorporation in a test material such as cementitious composition, or paint. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is included for a method for testing the photocatalyst, which involves mixing the photocatalyst with a test material to result in a testing material, applying a pollutant on the testing material, and subjecting the test material to a photo source such as sunlight, ultraviolet (UV) irradiation.
