A sample of peripheral venous blood is taken. DNA extraction is followed by analysis of polymorphic variant rs3219484 (C>T) of the MUTYH gene. In case detection of genotypes rs3219484-C/T or rs3219484-T/T, high risk of type 2 diabetes mellitus is predicted.
