A sample of peripheral venous blood is taken. DNA extraction is followed by analysis of polymorphic variant rs870406 (G>A) of the GPX3 gene. If the genotype rs870406-A/A is detected, an increased risk of type 2 diabetes mellitus is predicted. When detecting genotypes rs870406-G/G or rs870406-G/A, low risk of type 2 diabetes mellitus is predicted. USE - Medicine.
