成果简介NOVELTY - Innovative system comprises: many microbial fuel cells (MFCs) configured with anodes buried in wetland sediment to facilitate anaerobic microbial metabolism of organic matter, and cathodes positioned in an oxygen-rich environment to complete the electron flow, thus converting organic substrates into electrical energy. USE - The system is useful for electricity generation in wetlands utilizing microbial activity (claimed) and as a powerful tool for both renewable energy production and environmental conservation. ADVANTAGE - The system: utilizes the MFCs that are designed in a modular configuration, allowing for the integration of multiple units to scale electricity generation based on varying energy needs and the anodes are constructed from conductive materials that enhance the electron transfer efficiency during the microbial metabolic processes; and enhances wetland health by promoting natural decomposition processes and nutrient cycling, thus supporting biodiversity and ecosystem services.
