成果简介NOVELTY - The method for synthesizing activated biochar from rice straw biomass for the removal of methylene blue dye involves: collecting rice straw biomass; washing the rice straw with distilled water to remove undesirable substances and drying it at 100°C for 5 hours in a hot air oven; pyrolyzing the dried rice straw at 600°C for 1 hour at a heating rate of 10°C/minute under a nitrogen flow of 150 ml/minute; acid-treating the pyrolyzed biochar with 10% nitric acid to enhance its surface characteristics; and neutralizing the acid-treated biochar using distilled water, filtering, and drying it at 100°C for 12 hours for further study. USE - Method for synthesizing activated biochar from rice straw biomass for the removal of methylene blue dye and in wastewater treatment applications, preferably in the textile industry (claimed). ADVANTAGE - The activated biochar exhibits high adsorption efficacy for methylene blue dye, capable of removing approximately 90% of the dye within one hour of contact. The biochar demonstrates efficient dye removal across a wide range of pH levels. The porous and graphene-like structure of the activated biochar contributes to its effectiveness as a low-cost adsorbent for industrial-scale water treatment. The amount of activated biochar used is optimized to achieve high dye removal efficiency at minimal cost and within a short treatment time, enhancing the potential for large-scale industrial application. The method ensures a sustainable and scalable approach to water purification. The method utilizes an abundant agricultural by-product to create an eco-friendly solution that rivals conventional activated carbon in terms of adsorption efficiency while being more cost-effective and environmentally sustainable. The method addresses environmental pollution through an innovative, cost-effective, and sustainable solution that leverages agricultural waste. The method reduces material and production costs compared to conventional activated carbon, has rapid pollutant removal, and potential scalability for large-scale industrial applications. The method provides an eco-friendly and renewable method for wastewater treatment, contributing to pollution control in textile and other dye-intensive industries. The activated biochar can serve as a valuable alternative to synthetic adsorbents, promoting sustainable waste management practices and commercial viability in the water purification sector. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is included for a method for treating methylene blue dye-contaminated wastewater, which involves adding an effective amount of the activated biochar to the wastewater and allowing the adsorption process to occur for a period sufficient to remove at least 90% of the dye.
