成果简介NOVELTY - The system has a dustbin lid equipped with a UV bug trap that runs on solar power. The solar-powered insect traps offer a sustainable solution for controlling insects in outdoor regions at where access to electricity is limited. UV light bulbs that produce UV light are included in the trap. Flying insects are attracted to UV light due to natural attraction. Fly infestations are effectively eradicated or deterred by UV light, where the system does not require a constant source of electricity for saving money on electricity bills. Solar panels collects and stores energy in rechargeable batteries, where system ensures continuous operation even during cloudy conditions. USE - Automated UV sterilizing dustbin system for mitigating pandemic-causing diseases e.g. malaria, dengue fever, dysentery, and other insect-borne illnesses, in manual waste handling in outdoor settings e.g. gardens, patios and public spaces (all claimed). ADVANTAGE - The system reduces population of disease-carrying insects that breed in waste-filled trashcans, thus lowering the risk of diseases e.g. malaria, dengue fever, dysentery, and other insect-borne illnesses. The use of solar power for operation minimizes reliance on electricity sources, thus making the system environmentally sustainable, reducing carbon footprints associated with pest control methods, and reducing electricity bills. The system ensures continuous operation even during nighttime or cloudy conditions, enhancing effectiveness in insect control. The design of the system is suitable for various outdoor settings, including gardens, patios, and public spaces, thus broadening usability of the system. DESCRIPTION OF DRAWING(S) - The drawing shows a schematic view of a solar-powered UV insect.
