成果简介NOVELTY - The system has an electrically actuated rotary motor rotating in a clockwise direction and a counter-clockwise direction up to a predetermined angle. A shaft is operatively coupled with the motor, and a hammer pin is connected to an end of the shaft. A coupling mechanism is adapted to couple the shaft and the motor. The mechanism is configured to translate the rotational motion of the motor into a linear motion of shaft to facilitate an upward and downward movement of the hammer pin. The shaft is mounted on a mounting platform to allow an axial movement of shaft. USE - Electrically actuated hammering system for additive manufacturing of metallic components in hybrid layered manufacturing (HLM) environment. Can also be used in laser peening, ultrasonic peening and shot peening. ADVANTAGE - The system ensures precise hammer peening of a component, thus effectively applying compressive residual stress to counteract defects caused by tensile residual stresses during manufacturing. The system controls stroke of a hammer pin by controlling speed, direction, and angle of rotation of the rotary motor in an easy manner, thus integrating the hammering system with an additive manufacturing system for post-processing in a cost-effective and energy efficient manner.
