成果简介NOVELTY - Bromo-2-methylphenylisothiocyanate composition comprises: 5-15 mmol aniline; 25-35 mmol triethylamine; 15-25 mmol carbon disulfide; 5-10 mL ethyl acetate; 5-10 mL water; 4-8 mmol sodium bicarbonate; 2-4 mmol hydrogen peroxide; and 4-8 mmol potassium bromide. USE - Bromo-2-methylphenylisothiocyanate composition used for wound healing (claimed). No biological data given. ADVANTAGE - The composition helps in accelerating tissue regeneration, and achieve complete healing of burn wounds in 21 days or less. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is included for a process for synthesizing 4-bromo-2-methylphenylisothiocyanate, which involves: (a) mixing 5-15 mmol aniline and 25-35 mmol triethylamine in an ice-cooled mixture; (b) adding 15-25 mmol carbon disulfide dropwise to the mixture to form a dithiocarbamate salt; (c) stirring the reaction mixture at room temperature for 2 hours to allow precipitation of the dithiocarbamate salt; (d) filtering and washing the dithiocarbamate salt with a mixture of ethyl acetate and hexane to remove unreacted aniline and excess triethylamine; (e) drying the resultant dithiocarbamate salt in a vacuum desiccator; (f) forming an ice-cold suspension of 2-4 mmol dithiocarbamate salt in a biphasic solvent system of 5-10 mL ethyl acetate and 5-10 mL water; (g) adding 4-8 mmol sodium bicarbonate and a mixture of 2-4 mmol hydrogen peroxide and 4-8 mmol potassium bromide to the suspension; (h) stirring the suspension for 15-20 minutes to complete desulfurization and precipitation of sulfur; (i) separating the organic layer, drying it over anhydrous sodium sulfate, and concentrating it under reduced pressure; and (j) purifying the product using a short column of silica gel chromatography to obtain 4-bromo-2-methylphenylisothiocyanate.
