成果简介NOVELTY - Preparing activated biocarbon from mushroom waste, involves washing the mushroom waste, air drying the mushroom waste at room temperature, followed by solar drying, and grinding the dried mushroom waste into a coarse powder. The coarse powder is dried at 80°C for 24 hours in ambient air. The dried powder is grinded and sieved through a mesh size of approximately 50 (-0.3 mm nominal sieve opening) to form a bio-adsorbent precursor material. The bio-adsorbent precursor material is subjected to microwave pyrolysis (MPS) at 300 Watt for 15 minutes to produce a biocarbon, cooled, washed, and dried the biocarbon at room temperature for 24 hours. The biocarbon is ball milled for 2 hours with 30 minutes of resting time, and the ball-milled biocarbon is activated by UV irradiation in a photocatalytic reactor for 5 hours using a wavelength of 254-356 nanometer (nm). USE - Method for preparing activated biocarbon from mushroom waste for applications in environmental, energy, and industrial processes, where the activated biocarbon is used in applications selected from water treatment, soil remediation, gas adsorption, energy storage devices, and catalysis (all claimed). ADVANTAGE - The method exhibits a highly porous structure, a substantial surface area, and functional groups suitable.
