ADVANTAGE - The integrated modular photobioreactor and hydroponic system is designed to tackle air and water pollution, optimizes the growth conditions for microalgae, facilitates efficient CO2 sequestration, provides a scalable, sustainable approach to mitigate both air and water pollution in regions where traditional green infrastructure, such as trees, is impractical due to space and infrastructural constraints, and offers a quick, reliable, and eco-friendly method for reducing greenhouse gas emissions and improving water quality, and delivers high efficiency in both CO2 capture along with water purification, utilizes wastewater for culturing the algae making the system more resource intensive and energy consuming, and reduces the cost of maintenance owing to its modular design, and utilizes microalgae and water hyacinth in synergistic model for enhanced environmental remediation, develops a glass photobioreactor for optimizing the growth of microalgae, incorporates a deep-water culture hydroponics system into the photobioreactor for controlled cultivation of water hyacinth, and ensures the system's energy efficiency by integrating solar panels and battery storage for powering the aerator and lighting, enables the harvesting and processing of biomass from microalgae and water hyacinth for economic uses, such as biofuel production and compost, and enhances the removal of heavy metals, nutrients, (e.g., nitrogen and phosphorus), organic pollutants, and suspended solids from industrial and municipal wastewater, facilitates the absorption and conversion of atmospheric CO2, NOx, SOx, and volatile organic compounds (VOCs) through microalgae photosynthesis and enzymatic degradation, creates a compact design suitable for deployment in urban and industrial environments with space constraints, and reductes biological oxygen demand (BOD) and chemical oxygen demand (COD), DETAILED DESCRIPTION - An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is included for a method for capturing harmful gases such as carbon dioxide (CO2), nitrogen oxides (NOx), sulphur oxides (SOx) in air and for wastewater treatment comprising: (i) installing a modular photobioreactor and hydrophonic system in a glass body with 4 mm thickness; (ii) equipping the photobioreactor with an aerator to provide adequate oxygenation for the microalgae; (iii) integrating solar-powered lights into the system to enhance photosynthesis when natural light is insufficient; (iv) channelling direct wastewater into the hydroponics system, where water hyacinth is cultivated on the lid of the photobioreactor; and (v) regularly maintaining the pH of the system by buffer systems and by periodic addition of bases.
