成果简介	NOVELTY - Self-healing cementitious composition comprising cementitious matrix, and microcapsules, which comprising inner hydrophilic polymer layer, outer brittle shell layer, and bacterial spores encapsulated with inner layer; and calcium-based nutrient system. The microcapsules are dispersed throughout cementitious matrix. USE - Self-healing cementitious composition. ADVANTAGE - The composition enables autonomous healing of cracks up to 0.5 millimeter (mm) width through controlled bacterial precipitation of calcium carbonate, and maintains structural integrity while provides multiple healing cycles. The decrease in maintenance requirements will help reduce the overall lifecycle costs associated with concrete infrastructure. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - INDEPENDENT CLAIMS are included for: (1) a method of preparing the self-healing cementitious composition, which involves preparing bacterial spores, encapsulating bacterial spores and nutrients with dual-layer system, incorporating encapsulated system into a cementitious mixture, and curing mixture to form self-healing cementitious composition; (2) a method of self-healing cracks in concrete structures using the composition, which involves allowing cracks to form composition, triggering release of bacterial spores and nutrients through cracks; and facilitating germination of bacterial spores to precipitate calcium carbonate for healing cracks; and (3) a construction material, which comprising the composition, where the material exhibits reduced permeability ranging from 40-60 wt.% compared to conventional concrete.
