| 成果简介 | NOVELTY - Self-healing composite material comprises a polymer matrix incorporating microcapsule filled with a healing agent, reinforcement material including carbon fibers, glass fibers, and aramid fibers, embedded within the polymer matrix, and a catalyst dispersed within the polymer matrix to trigger the polymerization of the healing agent when released from the microcapsule. The polymer matrix further comprises reversible chemical bonds. The matrix undergoes self-healing when exposed to external stimuli such as heat or pressure. USE - Self-healing composite material used for structural component in aerospace, automotive, marine, renewable energy, or civil engineering applications (claimed), where aerospace is aircraft component, such as wings and fuselages, civil engineering, e.g., infrastructure components, such as bridge decks, beams, and columns. ADVANTAGE - The self-healing composite material is environmentally sustainable, incorporating bio-based or recyclable polymers, and is capable of autonomously repairing damage such as cracks, voids, and fractures, developed to address the inherent challenges of traditional composites, such as susceptibility to damage, the high cost of repairs, and the limited lifespan of materials under constant mechanical stress, and has the potential to redefine material design, improving safety, reliability, and efficiency across industries. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is included for a method for fabricating a self-healing composite material, which involves: (a) mixing a polymer matrix with microcapsule containing a healing agent and a catalyst; (b) embedding reinforcement fibers within the polymer matrix; (c) incorporating reversible chemical bonds into the polymer matrix; and (d) curing the polymer matrix to form a solidified composite material. |
