ADVANTAGE - The partial replacement of fine aggregate with waste ceramic tiles promotes sustainable construction by reducing the reliance on natural sand, which is rapidly depleting. This practice helps conserve natural resources and encourages the use of recycled materials in concrete production. Recycling non-biodegradable ceramic tile waste addresses environmental concerns by minimizing landfill accumulation, provides an eco-friendly solution to dispose of construction waste while repurposing as a valuable construction material. Concrete with optimal ceramic tile replacement levels (20%-30%) demonstrates improved compressive, tensile, and flexural strength compared to conventional mixes, and suitable for various construction applications requiring high-strength materials. Concrete containing ceramic waste exhibits lower water absorption, reducing permeability and enhancing resistance to environmental factors like weathering and chemical attacks. This contributes to increased structural longevity and reduced maintenance cost. By substituting a portion of fine aggregate with waste ceramic tiles, the cost of concrete production can be significantly reduced which makes concrete manufacturing more economical, especially in regions with abundant ceramic waste. The practice reduces the environmental impact of sand mining and landfill overuse. It contributes to a lower carbon footprint in construction by promoting recycling and reducing the energy associated with natural aggregate production. Crushed ceramic waste maintains adequate workability in concrete mixes, ensuring ease of mixing, handling, and placement which ensures the construction process remains efficient without compromising material quality. Waste ceramic tiles are chemically inert and do not leach harmful substances, ensuring their safe incorporation into concrete which makes a reliable substitute for fine aggregates in environmentally sensitive applications. |
