| 成果简介 | NOVELTY - Movable, skid-mounted packed bed photobioreactor (PBR) comprises: (a) vertical quartz reactor containing: (i) head or top space having inlet port for liquid and sparging arrangement for uniform fluid distribution; (ii) two middle reaction chambers to hold packing material of microalgae immobilized on iron nanoparticles-dispersed and carbon nanofiber-decorated activated carbon beads (Fe-CNF/ACBs) over packing support fabricated from Teflon(RTM: Polytetrafluoroethylene); (iii) bottom space, connected to the top section of reaction chamber by thicker stub; (b) photobioreactor enclosed in cylindrical casing with LED strips affixed to its inner side to illuminate the reactor in light or dark; (c) CO2-rich feed tank to contain sodium bicarbonate aqueous solution allowing it to flow through the reaction chamber in lightmode; (d) CO2-lean liquid tank to contain CO2-lean liquid which is recirculated through PBR when operated in dark-mode; and (e) product storage tank for storing liquid. USE - Movable, skid-mounted packed bed photobioreactor for producing formate from aqueous CO2in a continuous flow operation (claimed). ADVANTAGE - The movable, skid-mounted packed bed photobioreactor is efficient and cost-effective, which does not require continuous operation monitoring and has cost-efficient regeneration of the spent packing material, and provides simple switching mode between light and dark, under continuous flow operating condition. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - Movable, skid-mounted packed bed photobioreactor (PBR) comprises: (a) vertical quartz reactor containing: (i) head or top space having an inlet port for liquid and sparging arrangement for uniform fluid distribution over the packed bed reaction chamber; (ii) two middle reaction chambers to hold the packing material of microalgae immobilized on iron nanoparticles-dispersed and carbon nanofiber-decorated activated carbon beads (Fe-CNF/ACBs) over the packing support fabricated from Teflon(RTM: Polytetrafluoroethylene) with a perforated stainless steel (SS) disk at the center to allow the liquid to pass through it; (iii) bottom space, connected to the top section of the reaction chamber by thicker stub and to the middle reaction chambers by a thinner stub and an outlet (exit) port; (b) photobioreactor enclosed in a cylindrical casing with the LED strips affixed to its inner side to illuminate the reactor, in light or dark as required; (c) CO2-rich feed tank to contain sodium bicarbonate aqueous solution allowing it to flow through the reaction chamber in lightmode; (d) CO2-lean liquid tank to contain CO2-lean liquid which is recirculated through PBR when operated in dark-mode; and (e) product storage tank for storing the liquid. An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is included for a method for producing formate from aqueous CO2 in a continuous flow operation in a movable, skid-mounted packed bed photobioreactor, comprising: (i) filling Fe-CNF/ACBs having acclimatized and immobilized microalgae in the reaction chamber over the pre-installed packing support; (ii) filling CO2-rich feed tank with a sodium bicarbonate (NaHCO3) aqueous solution, which flows through the reaction chamber for 24 hours at a flow rate of 1 cubic centimeter (cc)/minute, where the flow rate is adjusted by pump controller; (iii) turning ON the LEDs for 6 hours facilitating the microalgae to produce starch from CO2while the treated liquid is collected in the CO2-lean liquid tank; and (iv) turning the light off for the next 18 hours to achieve dark phase, during which the liquid in the CO2-lean liquid tank is recirculated through the PBR, where the produced starch (glucose) is first converted to pyruvate and transformed to formate during the dark phase or mode, which is collected along with the CO2-lean feed in a formate storage tank by switching threeway valve. |
