成果简介NOVELTY - Yttrium-doped phosphate glass composition comprises phosphorus pentoxide (60), titanium dioxide (10), barium carbonate (10), calcium oxide (10), zinc oxide (9), and yttrium(III) oxide (1), synthesized using the melt-quenching technique. USE - The composition is useful for multifunctional radiation shielding in diverse industrial and medical applications (claimed). ADVANTAGE - The composition: can able to effectively attenuate gamma rays having high linear attenuation coefficients and mass attenuation coefficients across a wide range of gamma-ray energies; enhances thermal stability, mechanical strength and resistance to radiation-induced degradation; has optical properties including a prominent UV absorption peak at 270 nm, thus making the glass for UV-blocking applications in high-exposure environments; can able to produce white luminescence having emission peaks at 394 nm and 495 nm for use in lighting and display technologies; shows environmentally friendly nature thus providing an alternative to lead-based glasses for radiation shielding applications; and provides glass that (i) requires robust and efficient shielding solutions i.e. healthcare, aerospace, nuclear energy and environmental protection, and (ii) provides a safer and more versatile alternative that combines radiation shielding efficacy with optical transparency.
