ADVANTAGE - The system automates waste segregation based on waste type for efficient disposal, enables real-time monitoring of waste levels and sends timely notifications to administrators, uses Global Positioning System technology to track the location of waste receptacles, provides a self-cleaning mechanism, offers an interactive user interface, provides users with real-time status updates, automatically segregates waste into different compartments, and improves operational efficiency. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - The system (100) for smart waste management and segregation has a waste receptacle (102) consists of a power supply unit (104) including a solar panel (104a) and a rechargeable battery (104b) to provide an uninterrupted power supply. A compartment (106) is configured with: an opening inlet flap (108) operable by a servo motor (108a) to receive waste in the compartment; a water outlet flap (110) connected with a water pump (110a) operable by a direct current (DC) motor (110b) to clean the compartment and to drain wastewater; and a display panel (112) to display real-time operational status, compartment fill level, and interactive content of the compartment. A waste detection device (114) has: a moisture sensor (114a) to detect moisture level to categorize the waste being wet or dry, and further to generate a corresponding moisture signal based on the detected waste category; infrared (IR) sensors (114b) to monitor the compartment fill level of the compartment in real-time and generate a corresponding IR signal; a controlling module (116) configured to cooperate with the moisture sensor, IR sensors and ultrasonic sensor (114c) to receive the moisture signal, IR signal, and ultrasonic signal, and further configured to process the received signals by processing techniques to generate a processed signal for controlling the movement of the inlet flap via the servo motor; and a notification module (118) to generate a notification alert when the waste receptacle reaches a predefined threshold level, transmits the notification alert to a remote Internet of Things (IoT) enabled device (120) of an administrator/operator over a communication medium (122), where the notification alert includes a live location and operational status of the compartment, and live location fetched by live positioning module (124).
