| 成果简介 | NOVELTY - A rapid-curing asphalt mixture for cold weather construction comprises: an aggregate material; a modified asphalt binder comprising a petroleum-based bitumen or an alternative binder material, curing accelerators in an amount effective to accelerate the curing process at lower temperatures, adhesion promoters to enhance bonding between the binder and the aggregate, and antioxidants and stabilizers to prevent premature degradation of the binder during freeze-thaw cycles; additives consisting of plasticizers, waxes, fatty acids, or flow agents, where the additives improve the workability of the mixture at lower temperatures. USE - Rapid-curing asphalt mixture useful as paving material composition for cold weather construction (claimed). ADVANTAGE - The mixture cures to functional hardness within 4 hours after application, and is capable of supporting light traffic within about 6 hours. The asphalt mixture is capable of maintaining its durability and resistance to cracking under freeze-thaw conditions. The asphalt mixture provides a highly efficient solution for paving in cold climates, thus reducing construction delays and improving durability under freeze-thaw cycles. The method of preparing and applying the mixture ensures easy handling, fast curing, and long-term performance, making it ideal for road repair and construction in cold weather. The asphalt mixture provides a highly efficient solution for paving in cold climates, reducing construction delays and improving durability under freeze-thaw cycles. The rapid-curing asphalt mixture enhances the efficiency and durability of construction projects in regions where cold weather conditions may delay or hinder typical asphalt curing processes. The mixture not only cures quickly but also maintains its structural integrity and resistance to cracking, ensuring the longevity and reliability of the paved surfaces in harsh weather conditions. The mixture maintains optimal workability and compaction characteristics even at lower ambient temperatures. By enabling faster curing in cold weather without the need for excessive heat, the mixture contributes to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and energy consumption associated with asphalt production. The rapid-curing asphalt mixture enables timely project completion, improves performance in freezing conditions, and offers an environmentally conscious alternative to traditional hot-mix asphalt methods. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - INDEPENDENT CLAIMS are included for: (1) a method of preparing the rapid-curing asphalt mixture, which involves preparing the modified asphalt binder by combining a petroleum-based bitumen or an alternative binder material with curing accelerators, adhesion promoters, antioxidants, and stabilizers, preheating aggregate material to 160° F (70° C), mixing the preheated aggregate material with the modified asphalt binder at 190° F (88° C) for 3-5 minutes, cooling the resulting mixture to a workable temperature of 140°F (60°C), applying the asphalt mixture to a prepared surface and compacting it to achieve desired density, and allowing the mixture to cure rapidly; and (2) a paving material composition for cold-weather construction, which comprises the modified asphalt binder, aggregate material and additives. |
